Community patrollers apprehended a suspected criminal with stolen Telkom cables in Orlando East (German section) in the early hours of Monday.
Patrollers were doing their regular morning patrol when they confronted 2 suspects carrying cables. The suspects ran off when they saw the patrollers and left the cables on the scene.
A man who was walking alone was confronted by the patrollers at the next street, he then ran away and was chased and caught by the patrollers. They accused him of being a cable thief, he denied any knowledge of cables.
The police were called to the scene and the suspect, who is a resident of Orlando East (German Section) and known by the patrollers, was then arrested and taken to the Orlando Police Station.
The suspect has already appeared at the Orlando Magistrate Court and denied bail.
