As the sun dipped below the horizon on the 18th of November 2023, the vibrant city of Soweto came alive with the dazzling lights and infectious energy of the second annual Mrs eSoweto Pageant 2023/24. As a journalist fortunate enough to cover the event, I found myself immersed in an evening that seamlessly blended beauty, confidence, and a celebration of womanhood. The Pageant took place at the YWCA in Dube, Soweto.
Organized by the visionary Fikile Motaung, the Mrs eSoweto Pageant 2023/24 had a clear mission – to inspire women and foster self-confidence among its contestants. The atmosphere at the event was nothing short of electric, with guests and attendees dancing and partying well into the night, cheering passionately for their favourite contestants.
The program kicked off on a Saturday evening and unfolded with a rhythm that mirrored the heartbeat of Soweto itself. Sharleen Jones (45) from Protea Glen, emerged as the shining star of the evening, capturing the hearts of both judges and audience members alike. Her overwhelming victory was a testament to her grace, charisma, and the impact she had on those witnessing her journey. As she was crowned Mrs eSoweto Pageant 2023/24, the crowd erupted into cheers, celebrating not just her beauty but the empowerment she represented.
