Giving Your Voice a Chance: Toastmaster Open Day

Written by Nombulelo Tshabalala

The beginning of each year gives us an opportunity to conquer our fears and reach new heights in our personal and professional lives. One common fear to confront in the 2024 is the fear of speaking with unfamiliar people and/or speaking in front of an audience (public speaking). The fear of speaking has proven to be a stumbling block to a lot of life’s successes because most economic opportunities require a person to speak up in order to showcase their skills or put their ideas across.

If you are in and around Soweto, you have an opportunity to join a community of individuals who have committed to improving their communication and leadership skills by joining the Soweto Positive Speakers Toastmasters Club (SPS).

Founded in August 2006, Soweto Positive Speakers has its meetings at Diepkloof Communal Hall and it also belongs to the Toastmasters International Headquarters in Colorado, USA.

By joining the Club, you will have access to the Toastmasters International curriculum, which consists of 11 Public Speaking Paths to choose from. You will also have an opportunity to speak in front of a live and/or online audience when you deliver your speeches at the home club (SPS) or other Toastmaster Clubs within the Toastmasters International network.

Why don’t you give your voice a chance by attending our Open Day.
Saturday, 10 February 2024,
from 11:30 to 13:30 at the
Diepkloof Communal Hall (Behind Diepkloof Square).

The Open Day will provide more details about the Toastmasters International Programme, the joining and onboarding process as well as the benefits that an active member will enjoy at club level and within the Toastmaster International Network of Clubs.
