On Friday 13 May 2022, we received reports about a protest taking place at Bona High School in Orlando East, Soweto. It is alleged that learners at he school are not happy with their principal.
The learners are accusing the Principal of maladministration, it is alleged that the school has recently installed CCTV cameras at the school premises. Learners are complaining that the school’s condition is deteriorating and there are far more important issues that need to be attended to, instead of spending money on installing CCTV cameras.
Learners are complaining that the school’s toilets are in a bad condition, shortage of Textbooks and Furniture.
It is alleged that learners were burning tyres and chanting Principal should go. Police were called into the scene to calm the situation.
