Last week Wednesday marked a proud moment for Soweto as the iconic Eyethu Multi-Function Venue officially launched with a glamorous and well-attended event. Loxion Express was invited to cover the launch, and we were impressed by the level of professionalism and attention to detail that went into the day.
Hosted by the charismatic Scelo P, the programme was a celebration of Eyethu’s rich legacy and exciting future. The Tshabalala family kicked off the event by sharing the historical background of the venue, reminding guests that Eyethu is not just a place—it’s a legacy deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of Soweto.

Entertainment was in full swing throughout the day with live band performances, Zulu dance showcases, and stand-up comedy that had guests laughing and vibing. One of the highlights was a detailed presentation by Khethokuhle Jele, PR Manager of Eyethu and Disoufeng, who engaged the audience in an open Q&A session, breaking down what makes this venue unique.
Local businesses also set up exhibition stalls, giving the event a strong community feel and showing how the venue is already serving as a hub for township enterprise. Guests were then treated to a full walk-through of the venue, which revealed its high-tech features, spacious halls, and versatile event spaces.

The Eyethu Multi-Function Venue boasts state-of-the-art facilities suitable for a wide range of events—awards shows, product launches, live performances, corporate seminars, weddings, funerals, pageants, and more. Guests can choose to hire the full venue or specific facilities such as the stage or sound system.
Safety is a top priority, and the venue is ready to host events of all sizes, including international ones. With a standing capacity of 800, seating for 300, cinema-style layout options, and the ability to host up to 600 people, Eyethu is positioning itself as the go-to space for major gatherings in Soweto.

In addition to its functionality, what sets Eyethu apart is its flexibility and cultural significance. Guests are free to bring their own décor or use in-house services. Catering is also provided in-house, with options that cater to all religions, including Halal meals.
The venue’s heritage section is perfect for intimate gatherings and private events. Online reviews have already been overwhelmingly positive, and bookings are filling up fast.
